summer days to nights – poem 4

OK people its time for day 4 and poem 4 of NaPoWriMo!  I may try and experiment with more formal elements in the next few days, but for now it is purely my own “open field” and beat postmodern ear taking to flight.  Enjoy!

Summer days to nights                 by Max Wolf Valerio

         translucent                                  popsicle

                                  arpeggio

                      sunshine

                 Borealis

as people leave in combinations of three or four

senses are amplified

as through a shrinking field of

                                 night vision –

        coughs tilt toward midnight cigarettes

red lamps                    jazz snare    —  on tympanum

liquid stars

 and rolling thunder piano bars

deep blue ink stains           in  this impossible summer heat  –
